TV Chef, Lesley Waters, visited our farm shop on Thursday, November 22 to assist with the launch of the campaign, which celebrates the heritage, history and hard work behind the food and drink that comes out of Somerset and Dorset.
The campaign’s aim is to put the spotlight on the people behind the produce – the real food heroes.
Anne Mitchell, who owns and runs Rumwell Farm Shop with her husband, David, said: “We had a great morning with celebrity chef, Lesley. She was so enthusiastic and chatted to everyone. Thanks to Cornish Mutual for also choosing us as one of its Real Food Heroes and inviting us to help launch the campaign. Let’s celebrate the South West’s farmers and food & drink producers!”
As well as welcoming Lesley to the farm shop we also had some of our local suppliers offering tastings during the day including Luscombe Drinks and Discover Chocolate.
Cornish Mutual, Managing Director Alan Goddard, said: “From Cheddar cheese to Portland lamb, Red Ruby Devon beef to Cornish clotted cream, we think the South West makes some of the best food in the world.
“Behind this wonderful produce is a bunch of hardworking and passionate people and we are very proud that many of them are our Members. That is why we are putting the spotlight on the people behind our produce: the real food heroes.
“We were delighted to be able to launch our campaign with Lesley Waters and long-standing Cornish Mutual Members Rumwell Farm Shop. As both farmers and retailers, their business is a true celebration of local produce.”
