We’re delighted to announce that Stand Against Violence (SAV) in Taunton is one of our local chosen charities of the year for 2018.
We will be fundraising for the charity, which is dedicated to reducing violence through education, in a number of ways during the year.
SAV works prominently with young people to prevent violence. The charity delivers violence prevention workshops and talks to education establishments, businesses, and the community. The workshops and talks focus on personal safety, anger and aggression, basic life support and the awareness of choices and consequences.
We’re so lucky to have the charity in the local area and throughout 2018 we’re going to support and raise awareness of their vital work. We have a number of fundraising ideas from a quiz night in our cafe, to a car wash and even a charity afternoon tea. We would like to raise at least £1,750 for the organisation throughout the year.
SAV was set up in 2005 following the murder of 17-year-old Lloyd Fouracre. SAV aims to prevent violence, its long-term consequences and the grief of losing loved ones. The workshops it delivers equip and inform students in an effective manner how to Stand Against Violence.
Adam Fouracre, Chief Executive Officer at Stand Against Violence, said: “It’s fantastic news that Rumwell Farm Shop has chosen us as one of its charities of the year for 2018.
“With the money raised by Rumwell Farm Shop and its customers in 2018 we can continue to deliver anti-violence workshops, self-defence and vital first aid lessons to young people across England and Wales.
“Donations also allow us to continuously develop new and innovative educational resources combating violence in our communities. Our staff are highly trained and qualified teachers and professionals in their field. All are DBS checked and follow all our policies and procedures including safeguarding.”
