Scouts get cleaning for Taunton children’s charity

Motorists in Somerset are being invited to support a scout group and a children’s charity in the county by having their cars washed at our fundraiser being held next month (September, 2017).

We have teamed up once again with the 1st Wellington Scout Group but this time to raise money for Escape Support Group and the scout group on Saturday, September 16.

Kayla Fitzjohn, Deli Assistant at Rumwell Farm Shop, gets ready for the car wash in aid of Escape Support Group.

Anne Mitchell, Joint Owner of the farm shop, said: “We hope lots of people take advantage and support the car wash as it is being held for two great local causes.

“Escape Support Group is one of our charities of the year and has been supporting families who have a child, or children, with disabilities or specific individual needs in the Somerset area for 17 years.

“We are so pleased that the scouts were happy to come on board again for the fundraiser and also collect some money for their activities.”

The car wash will be held in the Rumwell Farm Shop car park from 10am until 4pm and will cost £4 per vehicle with £2 going to the Wellington Scouts and £2 to Escape Support Group.

Sarah Phippen, Team Leader at Escape Support Group, said: “Escape depends on the support of others, and we very much appreciate what Anne and the staff at Rumwell Farm Shop have been able to achieve so far this year.

“We are also very grateful to the 1st Wellington Scout Group for sharing their profits from the car wash with us. It is great to see young people fundraising to help others who may be less fortunate than themselves. I hope there are lots of dirty cars around on the day.”

Escape’s main aim is to provide fun activities, allowing children the opportunity to experience a positive childhood where they are integrated fully, and are able to share experiences that will enhance and enrich their lives, which other children and families may take for granted.

Dave Belfield, Executive Chairman at the 1st Wellington Scout Group, said: “We’re looking forward to attending our second car wash of the year at Rumwell Farm Shop. We hope people in the area once again get behind the fundraiser and pop along with their dirty vehicles. The scouts are raring to go and ready to make each car squeaky clean.

“The money raised will be going towards improving the scouts camping and activities equipment benefiting all age groups across Scouts, Cubs and Beavers.”
