Gin Tasting – Salcombe Gin

On Saturday, August 5 from 11am you will be able to tickle your taste buds with some Salcombe Gin. Tom Litten from the company will be in the shop with some samples for you to try.

Salcombe Gin began with a conversation over a G&T in a pub between its founders, Howard Davies and Angus Lugsdin. They originally met in the 1990s while teaching sailing in Salcombe.

Recognising an increasing demand for spirits of true provenance, quality and character they set about building a purpose-built distillery in the coastal town to produce gins of exceptional quality in small batches.

The gin is hand crafted on a copper pot still, which you can see first-hand from its bar at the distillery. Each batch is distilled with care and attention to detail, and blended together with Dartmoor water.

Salcombe Gin is the perfect balance of aromas and flavours between the heady, earthy and resinous pine notes of the finest Macedonian juniper, selected for their high Limonene content, combined with the warming spiced citrus notes from English coriander seeds grown by one of their suppliers and fresh citrus peels, peeled immediately prior to distillation.

They use a number of citrus peels including grapefruits, lemons and limes that were some of the fruit cargos carried by the famous Salcombe Fruiters, a key part of the spirit of their brand. To find out more about Salcombe Gin, please visit
